As the 70%-off signs start to come down, the SS16 collections are finally starting to drop in-store. But with snow (or at least chilly weather) still potentially on the horizon for those of us in many parts of the world, it’s not true spring/summer yet.
This is the time when transitional product rules, something I, for one, really like as excessively spring-like colourways just feel wrong at this time of year. In recent years, black and white or blue and white have reigned supreme as the two colour combos that add newness to the transitional ‘season’ while also being practical.
By Malene Birger’s Anilas dress is a perfect option for in-between months. It has sleeves (why do SO many dresses come without sleeves these days?) and the closer you get to it, the more you appreciate the fine detail of the subtle slub in the stripe and the raw edge at hems and neckline.
I’m not usually a great fan of asymmetric hems (so hard to find a coat that works with such hems, unless it’s a maxi) but I’ll forgive it in this case. Besides, it would work well with a bomber or a biker.
