Is it really that time already? You know, that moment when you’re bored, you casually glance at Vogue Runway to see if there’s a straggler SS17 or Resort 17 collection among all the Tbilisi Fashion Week shows and Bridal Fashion Week shows. Then you see it. Those words. Pre. Fall. 2017. Aaarrgghh.

Will this never end? We’re all still recovering from last Fashion Month. Catwalk doyenne Sue Evans has barely even finished all her retailer presentations and jumped on a plane to Australia and they’re at it again.

So who’s to blame for this early kick-off? Diesel Black Gold. I should hate it. But like a Christmas ad with a dog in it, I just can’t. It’s got biker jackets (more than one of them). And Wrap mini skirts with interesting detail (quilting, piping, bolo ties).

It’s got tough luxe ankle and knee boots that take the edge off the girly tiered mini dresses. It’s got dungaree styling, jeans and other pants with just the right amount of detail to take them out of the ordinary and some great men’s casual jackets that would look so good on me.

It’s not meant to be like this. Collections that preview this early usually come from the slightly desperate who can’t get attention any other time. But not Diesel, not somebody good. It’s November 16 for goodness sake.

There I was all geared up for the big kick-off on December 6 (Chanel’s Métiers d’Art show at the Ritz in Paris) and now all bets are off as to what happens in the intervening (almost) three weeks. Diesel really shouldn’t be doing this to us. But then again, I do like those biker jackets…
