Quilting is key for pre-fall 16 outerwear and it’s even working its way into daytime dressing with some labels giving us quilted tops, skirts and pants.
But for most of us, quilting is best as an outerwear option. It looks strong in tight diamonds for leather bombers or in larger panels and technical fabrics for lightweight-but-cosy jackets that are a step back from puffas for those not-quite-freezing temperatures.
Quilting also makes a dramatic impact when used for sweeping coats – cut to make a strong silhouette statement as cover-all trapezes or tightly belted.
And don’t forget the accessory options – scarves/wraps, hats, bags and boots can all go on a quilt trip.
