Miu Miu AW16
It’s over. Fashion Month has finally drawn to a close and we can all pause for breath, although the fashion industry isn’t pausing as it furiously pores over every key look, key item and key colour to see how it can pep up its open-to-buy offer for AW16.

The month, as always, went out with a bang as Miu Miu, which is doing much better businesswise at the moment than big sister brand Prada, closed the show. And what a good collection it was. There was something for (almost) everyone as it moved from glam cocktail wear to evening looks designed to keep anyone warm if the Christmas party weather is chilly. It took in coats for day and evening, denim utility wear for the days when you want your denim to feel smarter, rainwear and my favourites – jodhpurs.

The mix of jodhpur shapes with tailoring and sweet knitwear really showed what an eclectic collection this was. That mood was added to by making utility jackets in shiny velvets and teaming furs with denim.

It was (largely) very wearable, although watching the video, some of the models seemed to be struggling with the highest heels and also with the pearl-trimmed flat slides. Still, by the time it all gets in-store, I’m sure the technical team will have worked through those irritating problems.

I’m thinking that lilac dress that Lara Stone’s got on, or the cropped jodhpurs – but I’ll have to wait a couple of years until they turn up on Yoox or eBay at cut prices. Then again, I’ve got some material just like that tapestry floral in my back room.
