The bib-and-brace dress is set to make major trend waves next spring so it’s no surprise that one of the most forward looking retailers, & Other Stories, is the first big name to be acting on the trend.
It’s come up with a winner with this black leather version. It gives a luxe edge to a key item that may be utility-focused, but the material helps it go from smart daytime to after-dark with ease.
Imagine it with a statement blouse (a colour pop print, or maybe black lace), with a sequin sweater, a close-cut T-shirt or, well, with nothing at all.
The cut is well-executed and the leather feels soft and comfortable (yes, I tried it on). It’s £195, which isn’t exactly cheap, but for an on-trend dress in a good quality leather, it’s impressively low. I love it.

Well I tried it on and I definitely didn’t look like one of those – I looked cool and sophisticated (yeah, right)
Can’t see it myself, if you want to look like a Dickensian butcher then go ahead….
