Topshop SS16
The spring deliveries are coming thick and fast with floral print and lace taking a starring role at Topshop. It sounds quite pretty, but it’s not. Well, it is actually, but that’s not its main raison d’être.
The retailer has dubbed it Art School Cool with ruffles, florals and lace, a whimsical cat print fading into a carpet of florals (plus some strong and also some rather forgettable stripes) adding to the mix-and-match medley.
There’s a retro edge and strong influence from labels like Valentino, Christopher Kane, Erdem and Burberry, especially in the floral patterned shoulder bag and banded lace blouse. But with those particular items priced at £42 and £59, respectively, this look won’t break the bank like Valentino, Burberry and the others would.
Colour is key too. From the rich florals on a dark ground to the distinctly un-springlike lace contrasted with silver and muted gold metallic leather and the mixing of black and white with coral, this isn’t a trend for the faint-of-heart.
