The Calvin Klein Platinum line (which is available in Europe and Asia) has released its SS16 campaign with an outdoors location but certainly not an outdoors feel.
The mood is actually more urban sophistication, although I’m not sure if that sits easily with the brand’s tagline. I always feel that use of the “I do …… in my Calvins” tagline doesn’t feel quite right when it’s not jeans or something ultra-ultra-casual. But then, when you’ve been using the line for decades, it’s hard to drop it!
And of course, there’s the whole question mark around the Calvin Klein master brand since it was announced that the high-end label’s men’s and women’s creative chiefs had been given their marching orders and the whole fashion world started speculating over whether Raf Simons would (eventually) step into their shoes.
Those issues aside, the ads aren’t bad. They comprise a palette dominated by hot reds, clinical white, earth tones and intense sky blue with shots that may have been shot in an impressive landscape but in which the product is the star.
They were photographed by Harley Weir and featuring models Sung Jin Park, Hyunji Shin and Yuan Bo Chao.
