We won’t get to see Anthony Vaccarello’s first outing for Saint Laurent until September 27 but for now he’s teased the new collection on Instagram with an image of Anja Rubik.
Not that the Paris-based black and white shot by Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin gives much away. The image shows Rubik in an extremely uncomfortable-looking sequinned swimsuit (not sure whether the visible tan lines as deliberate or not) cut ultra-high, 80s-style. Apart from that she’s wearing a faded denim jacket.
It all suggests that the ‘new’ Saint Laurent will be pretty much like the previous incarnation under Hedi Slimane. We all know that Vaccarello loves his ultra-sexy looks even more than Slimane does but we weren’t sure whether Slimane’s ‘morning-after’ looks would also make a comeback. Based on this picture it looks like they might.
But then, I could be wrong and Vaccarello could be playing games in preparation for a big reveal of normcore-meets-mimimalism. Yeah, right….
