Peter Pilotto was the subject of the V&A’s Fashion in Motion series on Friday, presenting a curated selection of designs that showed off label’s brilliant way with print and pattern. The runway show, which celebrated an undeniably future-thinking label, looked even better in the historic setting of the London museum’s Raphael Gallery featuring the 15th Century Altarpiece of St George

Peter Pilotto: A Retrospective included 59 looks starting from SS09 and going through to the current AW15 season. And make-up artist Isamaya Ffrench’s interpretations of Peter Pilotto’s prints and textiles, added an extra dimension.

So who exactly is behind the label? Well, we usually describe it as “London-based” but that simple description doesn’t do justice to its international outlook. How so? Austrian-Italian designer Peter Pilotto and his partner Belgian-Peruvian designer Christopher De Vos met studying at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. You can’t get much more international than that combination.

Much as I love the label’s work, I can’t wait until the duo goes in for another collaboration like their earlier one with Target (see below) – it’s the only way I’ll be able to afford anything by PP.
