Balmain AW16 campaign

Olivier Rousteing at Balmain has gone down the supermodel/superstar route for his AW16 campaign. No surprise there.

But what is surprising is the overall feel of the Steven Klein-photographed shots that move away from Balmain’s usual “hey, look at me, I’m sexy” approach in favour of a more moody look. So the various campaign stars are shot staring into the distance or with tears streaming down their very famous faces.

Not quite sure what they’re crying about in the black and white shots – it’s obviously not the price of the clothes as this gang could buy the whole company between them many time over.

Maybe the clothes aren’t very comfortable. I think I’d cry if I was wedged into one of those dresses.

So, who do we get? The usual suspects. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West (both crying and falling over), Alessandra Ambrosio, Dilone, Joan Smalls, Josephine Skriver, Jourdan Dunn, Riley Montana, Sasha Luss and Ysaunny Brito.
